Program Overview

TMDC Fashionpreneur is a 4-month tailoring and fashion enterprise lab designed for individuals from 16 years and above who are ready to transform creativity into opportunity. Under the sub-theme “Global Threads, Stitching Cultures,” the program celebrates diversity, culture, and innovation by merging traditional and contemporary fashion influences from across the globe.

Participants will gain hands-on tailoring skills, entrepreneurial training, and mentorship, equipping them to launch sustainable enterprises that reflect both local identity and global relevance. This initiative fosters a multicultural community of designers and entrepreneurs who will not only wear their dreams but also stitch cultures together while shaping the future of fashion worldwide.

  • Modules:

    • Introduction to Sewing Tools, Machines, and Workspace Setup
    • Understanding Fabrics, Measurements, and Basic Patterns
    • Safety and Maintenance in the Workshop
    • Basic Hand Stitching & Machine Operation
    • Introduction to Simple Garment Construction (skirts, shirts, shorts)

    Practical Projects:

    • Sewing a simple skirt or shirt from scratch
    • Weekly skill drills on cutting, measuring, and finishing techniques
  • Modules:

    • Advanced Pattern Drafting & Fabric Cutting Techniques
    • Sewing and Assembling Complex Garments (dresses, trousers, jackets)
    • Finishing Techniques: Hems, Zippers, Buttons, and Lining
    • Introduction to Alterations & Garment Repair

    Practical Projects:

    • Constructing a two-piece outfit
    • Client measurement and fitting practice with peers

    • Creative Design Thinking & Fashion Sketching
    • Introduction to Colour Theory & Style Trends
    • Pricing Your Work & Calculating Production Costs
    • Branding, Marketing, and Social Media for Fashion Businesses
    • Customer Service and Relationship Building

    • Create a personalized brand concept & logo
    • Design and produce a signature piece for your portfolio

    • Small-Scale Production Planning & Time Management
    • Quality Control and Professional Presentation
    • Pop-Up Sales Events & Community Exhibitions
    • Legal & Business Setup for Tailoring Shops

    Capstone Project:

    • Fashionpreneur Showcase Event – Participants display their final collection at a community exhibition hosted by TMDC.
    • Pitching Session: Each participant presents their business idea to a panel of mentors and potential investors.

Participants will receive a TMDC Fashionpreneur Certificate of Completion and priority access to TMDC’s small business support programs.
